WordPress with Enderchest

UpdraftPlus has an S3-Compatible (Generic) storage option that works with Enderchest. Four fields, one test button, and every site backup goes to a bucket of its own.

Endpoint https://s3.enderchest.store · region eu-ams-1 · path-style addressing · an access key from the console. 50 GB free on every account, then $3 per TB per month; downloads and API requests are free.

UpdraftPlus settings

  1. In the Enderchest console, create a bucket per site (for example example-com) and a read-write access key. One key can serve all your sites, or make one per site so a leaked key only reaches one bucket.
  2. In WordPress open Settings › UpdraftPlus Backups › Settings and choose S3-Compatible (Generic) as the remote storage.
  3. S3 access key and S3 secret key: the pair from the console.
  4. S3 location: the bucket name, optionally with a folder, for example example-com/daily.
  5. S3 end-point: s3.enderchest.store.
  6. Bucket access style: Path style. Signature version: v4. If the plugin version you have does not show these two fields, it uses path style and v4 already.
  7. Click Test S3 Settings, then Save Changes.

Schedule and retention

Set the files and database schedules at the top of the same page, and how many backups to retain. UpdraftPlus deletes the old ones from the bucket itself, so the stored total stays flat.

Agencies

For a dozen client sites the numbers are small: a site with 2 GB of uploads and 14 retained backups holds under 30 GB, inside the free 50 GB. Beyond that, storage is $3 per TB per month counted by the day, and restoring a site costs nothing.
