Terms of service

Effective 2026. These terms apply to your use of Enderchest.

1. What Enderchest is

Enderchest is an object storage service with an S3-compatible API and a web console. We store the data you upload in encrypted form and return it on request. It is intended for backups, archives, media libraries and similar data.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. You are responsible for everything done with your account and your access keys.
  • Keep your password and access keys secret. Tell us at [email protected] as soon as you suspect a key has leaked; we will help you revoke it.
  • One person or organisation per account. You may create as many buckets and keys as you need.

3. Your data in our care

We take reasonable care to keep your data intact and available, including encryption, checksums on every object and monitoring. You are responsible for the data you store.

4. Pricing and payment

  • The first 50 GB stored on an account is free. Storage above that costs $3 per terabyte per month. We record the largest amount you stored on each day and charge each day at the daily share of the monthly rate. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any applicable tax.
  • To store more than the free allowance, add a card in the console. After each month we add that month's storage to your balance. When the balance reaches $5 we charge the card for the whole balance; a smaller balance carries forward to the next month. The console shows the running balance. There is no minimum charge and no commitment.
  • Until a card is on file, an account is limited to the free allowance and uploads beyond it are refused.
  • If a charge is declined we tell you by email and try again daily. After 14 days of failed charges we refuse further uploads until a charge succeeds; reads and deletes keep working and nothing is deleted. If an amount stays unpaid for more than 45 days we may delete data above the free allowance after a written warning.
  • We do not charge for downloads or API requests. We may limit traffic that degrades the service for other customers or that breaches the acceptable use policy.
  • We give at least 30 days notice before changing prices.

5. Closing your account

You can stop using the service at any time; there is no contract term. Email us to close your account. Your data is deleted within 30 days of the account closing, and a final invoice covers storage up to the day it is deleted.

6. Acceptable use

The acceptable use policy is part of these terms. In short: nothing illegal, nothing that harms others, nothing that harms the service. We may suspend an account immediately on a credible abuse report, and we may remove content and terminate accounts for violations.

7. Your data

  • Your data is yours. We claim no rights to it beyond what is needed to store and return it.
  • We do not look at your data unless you ask us to, we are legally required to, or we are investigating an abuse report.
  • Our privacy policy explains what we log and how long we keep it.

8. Ending the service

If we ever shut the service down, we will give at least 30 days notice by email so you can download your data. If we must suspend your account for abuse or non-payment, we will say so and, where the law allows, give you a chance to retrieve your data.

9. Warranty and liability

The service is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law we exclude all warranties, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid in the three months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost data, lost profit or lost business.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced by email at least 30 days in advance. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new terms.
