restic with Enderchest
restic talks to Enderchest through its S3 backend. Point the repository at the endpoint, set the two keys, and use restic as usual.
Endpoint https://s3.enderchest.store · region eu-ams-1 · path-style addressing · an access key from the console. 50 GB free on every account, then $3 per TB per month; downloads and API requests are free.
restic talks to any S3 endpoint through its s3: backend. Create a bucket in the console first (for example restic), then:
export AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID=YOUR_ACCESS_KEY_ID export AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY=YOUR_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY export RESTIC_REPOSITORY=s3:https://s3.enderchest.store/restic export RESTIC_PASSWORD='choose-a-strong-passphrase' restic init restic backup /home /etc --exclude-caches restic snapshots restic check restic restore latest --target /tmp/restore restic forget --keep-daily 7 --keep-weekly 4 --keep-monthly 12 --prune
restic encrypts the repository itself, and Enderchest encrypts it again at rest. Put the schedule in cron or a systemd timer and run restic check --read-data-subset=5% monthly to exercise real reads.
Kopia works the same way: choose the S3 repository type, endpoint https://s3.enderchest.store without the scheme, and tick use path-style addressing if your version offers it.
