Enderchest vs Hetzner
Hetzner sells two storage products: Object Storage, which speaks S3, and the Storage Box, which does not. Self-hosters compare both against a $3 bucket, so this page covers both.

What is the same
Both are European and priced for people who keep copies rather than serve traffic. rclone, restic and Kopia work against either; Hyper Backup, TrueNAS Cloud Sync, Pterodactyl and Proxmox Backup Server's S3 backend need an S3 endpoint, which rules out the Storage Box.
When Hetzner is the better fit
You already run servers at Hetzner and want backups on the same network at no traffic cost, you need more than 1 TB of egress a month, or you prefer a fixed-price box you can reach over SFTP and Samba.
When Enderchest is
You want S3 without a base fee: a 200 GB restic repository costs nothing here and €6.49 a month on Object Storage. Above a terabyte, $3 per TB counted by the day is less than either Hetzner product once traffic and the base price are added, and every tool that needs an S3 endpoint works.
